GEO Service Pricing in Hong Kong: Three Models and Six Cost Drivers

Two "GEO" proposals can differ by several times: one at a few thousand a month, another at tens of thousands. The difference is rarely just price — it is scope.

This article separates the three common models and the six drivers behind the number.

Three common engagement models

1. One-off project (content + technical fixes)

Content audit, rewriting service pages, structured data, indexing fixes and six to ten articles. Delivered once, then you maintain it.

Best for: companies with existing content who mainly need direction.

2. Monthly retainer (ongoing content + monitoring)

Fixed number of articles per month, AI visibility monitoring, prompt testing, monthly reporting and strategy adjustment.

Best for: companies committed to compounding visibility over time.

3. Consulting (hourly or per project)

Strategy, internal training and reviews of content your team writes. No execution.

Best for: in-house marketing teams that need direction, not capacity.

Six cost drivers

  • Volume: five pages versus fifty pages is a multiple of the work
  • Languages: bilingual delivery typically adds 40–60%
  • Industry complexity: legal, medical and financial content needs stricter fact-checking
  • Technical debt: slow pages, indexing gaps and missing schema raise the upfront cost
  • Monitoring scope: ChatGPT only, or ChatGPT plus Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews
  • Reporting depth: raw numbers versus analysis and recommendations

Seven questions to ask in a quote

  • Which prompts will you use as a baseline, and can I see a sample?
  • How many articles per month, at what length, in which languages?
  • Are technical fixes (indexing, schema, speed) included?
  • How do you measure AI visibility — is Search Console reporting included?
  • What happens if there is no movement in three months?
  • Is the content human-written, and what is the fact-checking process?
  • What is the contract length, and can I terminate early?

Three traps in cheap proposals

  • Bulk AI-generated content with no first-hand experience — neither readers nor AI engines will cite it
  • Impression numbers without analysis — numbers can rise simply because a sitemap was submitted
  • No technical scope — if pages are not indexed, better writing changes nothing

How to set a budget

A practical approach: define the 20 questions you want to be cited for, then ask each agency how they will get you cited for those 20. The more specific the answer, the clearer where the money goes.

If budget is limited, the usual order of return is: fix indexing, rewrite service page openings, add FAQs and schema, then publish content.

FAQ

How long does a GEO engagement run?

One-off projects typically take four to eight weeks. Retainers should run at least three months, because citation changes compound.

Can anyone guarantee ChatGPT citations?

No. AI selection logic is not public and changes often. Credible proposals promise improved probability and measurable progress, not guarantees.

Can we do it ourselves?

The writing fundamentals yes. Technical work (schema, indexing, speed) is better handled by a specialist.

Do Hong Kong and overseas agencies price differently?

There is no standard, but Hong Kong agencies usually have a Chinese-content and local-market advantage, while overseas agencies may be stronger technically.

Should GEO and SEO be quoted separately?

They can be combined, but ask for itemised pricing so you can see where the budget goes.

Want a proposal based on your site?

We run a 30-prompt baseline first, then quote against your actual site — not one price for everyone. Details: SEO & GEO AI search optimization.
